In
September 2004 after a long and hard fought battle with Bipolar Disorder I
lost my brother, Keith Milano to suicide.
In response to this tragic
event, our family has focused our fundraising efforts on educating and
raising awareness about mental illness and suicide.
We are proud to say that in the short time since his passing with the help
of friends, family and generous donated we have raised more than $110,000,
to benefit the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention (AFSP) in Keith
Milano’s Memory.
Mental Illness and suicide has affected many more people than we ever
imagined. It does not matter where we go or whom we speak with, everyone
seems to have been touched. Whether it was a mother, father, brother,
sister, aunt, uncle or a friend each person has his or her own story. Yet
these topics, in our opinion, tend to be pushed aside and not spoken about.
We are willing to speak about Keith, our experiences and would be willing to
listen to yours.
In order to raise awareness and monies for this worthwhile cause, we are
involved in organizing the 4th Annual Keith Milano Memorial Golf Outing
being held at Indian Hills Golf Club on September 15, 2008.
The proceeds from this event benefit the American Foundation for Suicide
Prevention (AFSP).
You can learn more about The Keith Milano Memorial Golf Outing and the AFSP
by visiting
www.keithmilanomemorialfund.org or
www.afsp.org respectively.
This year our goal is to raise in excess of $75,000.
You can help us to reach this goal in one of four ways:
1) Join us for a fantastic day of golf, food and fun.
golf brochure
2) If you are not a golfer, enjoy the cocktail hour and reception with us.
3) Support us with a donation
4) Be an event sponsor, purchase a tee sign or flag, or donate a raffle
prize.
Please take time to fill in the attached form. If you have any questions
about the events or being a sponsor, feel free to contact us at
lsprung*at*keithmilano.org. (please change to the @ before emailing)
Whether you golf, join us for the cocktail hour and dinner, become a
sponsor, or make a donation, please find it in your heart to support us.
This is a cause that needs to be spoken about and discussed in order to help
those who suffer, have suffered or know someone suffering from mental
illness.
In advance, my husband Larry and I appreciate all the support,
Kindest Regards,
Denise Milano Sprung
